The Psychology of Hair Loss in Teenagers and Young Adults
In the late teens, an individual is dealing with pubertal and post pubertal physiologic changes, the challenges of seeing the world with a new eye, the loss of innocence, school, pressure form peers and social groups etc. These in themselves are psychological stressors that define and shape our humanity. The manner in which we cope with these early stressors have the potential for defining who we become for the remainder of our lives. Adding hair loss to that burden in a teenager’s life can have far reaching consequences. There is potential for it to result in depression, social withdrawal and even paranoia. An individual whose development is influenced by these additional stressors would be at a disadvantage in all realms of life.
Hair Restoration Surgery In Teenage and Young Adults – What Could Go Wrong?
A young patient considering a hair transplant in Caledonia Mississippi should always remember that transplanted hairs are permanent, while the hair they currently have is temporary as the hair loss would progress with age. Because the extent and rate of hair loss progression cannot be predicted, planning a hair transplant can be tricky. If this is not taken into account a hair transplant would potentially result in an odd hair pattern which results after a transplant that initially merged into adjacent pre-existing hairlines assumes an odd look. This would occur when the previously blended pre-existing hairline progressively receded to create a bald gap between it and the transplanted hairs. To correct this, more hair transplants would be required to bridge the gap. However, this odd pattern might not be remediable if:
1. The patient runs out of donor hair. This is especially a problem in patients with severe baldness, or when the transplanted hairline was placed too aggressively
2. The patient cannot financially afford the cost of further procedures
3. Body hair cannot be used either because the doctors at the patients’ disposal lack the experience, skill or the technology required to perform successful FUE transplant using body hair (BHT) consistently. In some patients, however, BHT is not conceivable on account of an absolute lack of body and beard hair. There is a great deal of inter ethic variation in the quality and quantity of body hair in individuals.
Hair Transplant Repair Options for Victims of Hair Transplants Performed at Young Age
Unless the hair transplant on a young patient involved the creation of a very conservative hairline, the first challenge in most of these patients is the depletion of head donor hair supply often compounded by the presence of follicular unit strip surgery and / or FUE scars. In these head donor depleted patients, a successful and credible repair and restoration work would necessitate the use of beard and body hairs in BHT repair work. Donor source in BHT can include facial hair as well as hairs from the torso and limbs. A recent 122 patient study published in the Aesthetic surgery journal describes the criteria for determining the suitability of BHT donor hair. What more, the study described the kinds of features an FUE equipment used in BHT should possess. Younger patients destined for severe baldness should begin incorporating beard and body hair earlier on in their hair transplantation odyssey. With proper planning, requisite doctor experience and skill as well as the proper utensils it is indeed possible to execute a successful FUE repair in young victims of ill-conceived hair restoration surgeries Caledonia MS that were performed at a young age.

Some Common Q & A’s
How Much Do Hair Transplants At Hair Club For Women Cost?
I Think The Only Way My Hair On The Right Side Will Grow Is If I Get A Transplant. How Much Are These Or Is There Any Other Options To Grow The Hair On The Right Side Of My Head???
How Much Does Hair Restoration Cost And Does It Actually Work? ?
I Told My Husband To Get A Hair Transplant He Started Losing His Hair At Age 25 And Now He'S 28. He Lost Hair From Fron To The Middle Of His Head. Any Solutions? Hair Restoration Sounds Good But Is It Real? Does It Really Work? And How Does It Work? And How Much Does It Cost? Anybody Got Any Experience With Hair Restoration?
Yes, hair restoration is real, and it does work. As far as transplants go, there are two common methods that are used:
1) strip method. They remove a small section of the scalp, usually somewhere between the earlobes, and a few inches above the neckline, on the back of the head. This area is then stitched back together. It may sound a bit gruesome, but it's an outpatient procedure, no worse than going to the dentists office. They anesthetise you, but you are conscious the entire time. Once this strip is removed, technicians divide the strip into groups of folicles, ranging from single to triple. The physician then makes tiny incisions on the scalp, where these folicles will be transplanted to. His assistant(s) will usually start counting, "one, two, three.....two hundred twenty, twenty-one." Each count is an individual incision. The incisions are done in groups, and done quite rapidly. Then, the physicians and assistants implant the folicles into these sites. It's usually an all-day process. The patient is usually seated in a chair like a dentist chair, and they have movies playing, they offer snacks and beverages. The patient may chat with the staff while they work. It's a very relaxed atmosphere.
2) FUE method. The main difference here is that instead of removing a strip of hair, a punch tool is used to extract follicles. This leaves little tiny holes in the donor area, as apposed to a scar area. The sites and implantation are about the same as the strip method. The FUE method is said to be more expensive. The main advantage is that it's less intrusive than the strip method.
In my particular case, they did the strip method, because it was considerably less-expensive, and also because, according to the physician, it provided more donor hair than the FUE method would have.
After the procedure, a couple of days later, the transplants scab over. My scalp looked like I had a very bad case of acne! This is normal. My scalp itched, and the donor area (where the stitches were) hurt a little, but they provided medication to combat this, so the discomfort was minimal. After about 14 days, I had the stitches removed, and life was pretty much back to normal. I could have gone right back to work the day after the procedure, but I decided to take the week off, and just relax. That's what I recommend.
As for the cost, most transplant places charge per graft. A graft is an incision or transplant site where a folicle (grouped as one, up to 4 individual strands of hair) are implanted. My procedure involved approximately 2200 grafts. Depending on where you go, these grafts can range between $5 to $10 per graft. Some places offer a scale, where, the more grafts you go with, the less they charge per graft. Anyway, yes, it's expensive. It's like buying a car. Most places offer payment programs.
Did it work? YES! It took about 5 months before I really started to see the results. The transplanted hair came in very thin at first, and then slowly started to get thicker. No, it didn't give me back that full, lush head of hair I once had. Here's the thing; A lot of people have more than one procedure done, because, depending on the amount of hairloss, and the results they desire, sometimes one procedure isn't enough. I'm very happy with my results so far. Yes, there is still an area on my crown that's quite thin. It looks much better than before though. I will probably have an additional procedure done in a year or two to address that area, and to add some overall thickness.
Hope this helped. Good luck.
Shaltop-A Is Good For Hair Regrowth?
According Dr. Melissa Piliang, a dermatologist at the Cleveland Clinic. Americans spent an estimated $176 million on hair loss products last year, and chances are some of that money was not well spent. Don’t let charming salon owners, seductive ads or fancy gimmicks convince you otherwise.
Here are the reasons why you have hair loss, if you figured it out what was the cause, your hair will grow back.
Supplements, steroids, hereditary, hair dyes perming, straightening, medications with testosterone, certain antidepressants, menopause, anti-acne, and too much of everything. Add to that the 7,000 + toxics found in your home, plus pollution found outdoors. Your body is crying for help!
They also say you normally lose 100-200 hair a day, but I don't. I lose about 7-8 every time I brush it, so that's about 100 per week, give or take.
The majority of hair problems here are from girls in their 30s, asking how to care for their damaged hair, what product to make their hair grow, why their hair falls out, and why their shampoo or conditioner don't work. Women between 60-80 have that same problem, but it took them years to get there. And those same 30 & under girls are giving advice here? Go figure!
Even the cheapest shampoo can do magic for your hair, so it must be what you're doing AFTER you wash it. Shampoos and vitamins might make your hair look and feel healthier, but they won’t put more hairs on your head.
Beauty salons compliment my hair for it is silky, shiny, healthy hair and it feels like hair, not hay.
Is Hair Restoration For Women Effective?
I Have Thining Hair And I'M 25 Years Old (Female). It'S Been Really Depressing And Humiliating. Does Anyone Have Advice On This?
I have a thin spot at the top corner of my hairline. When I got my hair straightened, it all broke off and I had this weird place at my hairline with short fine spikes and it wasn't growing back out. I am an Arbonne consultant and we have this product called Thermal Fusion Hair and Scalp revitalizer. I had some on hand because it comes as a free product with the men's skin care set that I bought for my hubby. So I tried it and my hair started significantly growing back out within 3 weeks. It may take a few weeks or even a little over a month to see the results because it is causing changes at the cellular level, but if you want to try it, I could arrange for a free sample. Arbonne also has a return policy if you ever are not happy for any reason. If you do like it, you can always sign on as a wholesale buyer even if you don't want to do it as a biz.

Is There Any Home Remedies For Hair Loss Treatment?
Well...I Would Like To Know About The Remedies That Can Be Easily Prepared At Home~
Ginkgo biloba: This popular herb is thought to improve blood circulation to the brain and skin. Herbalists believe that the increased flow of blood to the brain area delivers more nutrients to the hair follicles thus promoting hair regrowth. The recommended dose is 120-160mg of dry extract each day spread over three doses.
Green tea (Camellia sinesis): It is thought that catechins found in green tea may inhibit the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase that converts testosterone into hair-unfriendly DHT. It is therefore believed to be effective in preventing and treating male pattern type baldness. You should drink several cups of green tea each day or take it in capsule form as instructed by the manufacturer.
He Shou Wu (Polygonum multiflorum): Also known as Fo-Ti, this Chinese herb has traditionally been used to reduce hair loss. It is found in many commercial preparations, or in tea and capsule form.
Pygeum (Pygeum africanum): Derived from the bark of an evergreen, it works in a similar way to green tea. It is widely used to treat prostate problems and male pattern baldness. Users should take 60-500mg per day in pill or capsule form.
Saw palmetto (Seranoa repens): This is the current treatment of choice for many men due to its ability to protect the prostate, slow hair loss and encourage hair regrowth. It forms the core element of many commercially prepared hair loss treatments but can easily be obtained in its pure form. The recommended dose is a 160mg capsule twice each day, but make sure the ingredients are made from the berry extract not the dried berries themselves.
Stinging nettle (Urtica diocia): This has long been favored as a means of preventing hair loss due to its ability to block the conversion of testosterone into DHT. It can be taken in pill or capsule form with an optimum dose of 50-100mg per day. It is particularly effective when combined with pygeum and saw palmetto.

I had a customer who had a botched transplant job and it was nasty - a bunch of little divets in his head in several rows. I say forget about the hair. It just means you have more testosterone. I'll take testosterone over hair ANY day.
Hair/Scalp Analysis With Hair Restoration Doctors Using Microscopes?
Genetic Hairloss Runs In My Father'S Side Of The Family (Father/Uncle) So I Decided To Seek A Hair Restoration Surgeon To Check The Health Of My Hair. Aside From A Small Recession In The Front, I Still Have A Full Head Of Hair, However, This Doctor Used Some Microscope To Check My Scalp And It Showed Some Of The Hairs Were Miniaturizing. He Prescribed Some Drug Called Finasturide 5Mg And Said It Was Probably Genetic Loss Since I Told Him It Ran In My Dad'S Family. I Look In The Mirror And I Still Have A Full Head Of Hair, So I Don'T Think I Buy Into What This Doctor Says. My Dermatologist Says As We Age, We All Miniaturize, It Is Just Part Of Getting Older And If I Don'T Show Any Visible Signs I Should Be Ok. I Don'T Think I'M Going To Take This Medication For Life Per That Hair Surgeon'S Advice Just Because I Have A Full Of Head Of Hair Right Now. What Do You Think?
Research and my experience show that hair loss is inherited from the mothers side of the family.
Regardless, if you have a full head of hair, then the hair loss in front could be caused by reasons other than heredity.
Wearing a tight cap or headband, using tons of hairspray on your bangs and combing through it without washing the spray off first could cause breakage. Using a hair dryer close to your head could cause the hair to burn and frizz up causing miniaturizing. If this hair is burned then you are also burning your scalp so pl keep the dryer no less than 6 inches away from your scalp.
If you use a curling or straightening iron, you could be doing the same thing-using it too close to the scalp. If you damage or burn your scalp nothing you do to restore your hair will make it grow through a burned scalp.
Here are some tips that could help:
Always wash your hair spray off before combing through it.
Never battle with your hair tangles. It causes breakage. Hair stretches about 2 1/2 times its length when it is wet and when you stretch it to remove the tangles, that becomes the weakest point which at first frizzes then breaks off causing split ends.
Do not use aerosol hair sprays, They contain wax and wax builds up and causes breakage. Use a pump spray if you have to.
We all lose thousands of hairs each week, which always grow back but your dermatologist is right in that it does decrease as we age.
If your hair loss is hereditary, you seem comfortable with it right now. But down the road, if it bothers you, there are surgeons out there who can do wonders with lasers, plugs or scalp grafts.
It is costly, but saves a lot in peace of mind. I have seen miracle hair replacement surgeries and if anyone can afford it, I would suggest they go for it.
